Nitin Gadkari lays foundation stone for 13 projects worth Rs 3000 crore in Manipur
New Delhi. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday laid the foundation stone of Rs 3,000 crore highway projects in Manipur. Besides, it also announced the award of contracts for additional projects worth Rs 16,023 crore in the state. He laid the foundation stone for 13 highway projects in the state through video-connectivity and launched a road safety project. Gadkari also assured to speed up the work with 'priority' on the Rs 2,250 crore highway projects already underway in the state. In this online program Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for North Eastern Region Development, V.K. Singh, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and cabinet ministers of Manipur and others were involved. Describing Manipur as the engine of growth in the Northeast, Gadkari said, "It can play an important role in the growth of the country." We are committed to the development of Manipur. A good network of highways will pave the way for development. Apart from this, Manipur should also focus on advancing local artisans and small and medium industries (MSMEs). ”Gadkari also has charge of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given top priority to the development of basic amenities in the Northeast.
Gadkari asked the state to rapidly acquire land and move facilities for power, telecommunications, etc. to speed up highway construction. Gadkari said, "Soon, contracts for projects worth Rs 16,023 crore will be awarded for construction of 874.5 km of highways. Projects worth Rs 2,250 crore are underway in the state and construction will be expedited. ”He said that a good start has been made and new projects will come up in the coming days. This included four laning of 106.5 km road between Kohima and Imphal for Rs 2,663 crore, four-lane stretch of 220 km stretch between Imphal to Jiraban on NH-37 for Rs 5,425 crore and Rs 1,765 crore on National Highway-129A. A two-lane project involving 118 kilometers of roads is included.
Gadkari said that these projects will be launched soon and he is confident that it will play an important role in the development of Manipur. "With this, I urge the Chief Minister to acquire land and transfer facilities at a rapid pace, as we are facing these difficulties in completing projects in the state." For this, he also urged the Chief Minister to convene a meeting with the Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation. Assured He said that his ministry is in the process of preparing a detailed project report in this regard. Apart from this, Gadkari also urged to adopt green transport measures like methanol and e-vehicles in the state.
