Sourav Ganguly Played A Big Part In MS Dhoni's World Cup 2011 Victory: Manoj Tiwary

As per Manoj Tiwary, Sourav Ganguly had a major contribution in India’s World Cup 2011 triumph because the winning squad was build under the former Indian captain.


Well, Tiwary is not the first to credit Ganguly for India’s World Cup victory. Gautam Gambhir and other several former cricketers have said that Ganguly built the team which had helped MS Dhoni to end India’s trophy drought. 

Dhoni guided the team to World Cup victory after 28 years following and Co’s triumph way back in 1983 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Sourav Ganguly was dropped from the captaincy of the Indian team after the affray between him and the then head coach Greg Chappell. Although after he returned to the team, he was not the given position of the skipper. Subsequently, he retired from the game in 2008. 

During his captaincy period, he is credited to back several young players like Yuvraj Singh, , Virender Sehwag and also the World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni. Tiwary also noted the same contribution of Ganguly, stating that players had a sense of security under Ganguly. 




Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly raised from leading the Indian team to becoming the BCCI president. Currently, he waiting to hear the Supreme Court’s decision on his extension of tenure in the Indian board.
