Lockdown: Sonia Gandhi appears with PM Modi's decision for first time
New Delhi: Interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi welcomed the government's decision of a 21-day lockdown to stop the spread of Corona infection, saying that Congress will support whatever action the government takes against the epidemic. On Thursday, Mrs Gandhi has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi saying that Congress is standing with the government and the nation in the war against Corona.
Terming the implementation of 21-day lockdown of PM Modi's entire country as the right step, Congress President said that the virus has put the whole world in danger and it has become a challenge especially for the weaker sections of the society. She said that the entire country is united to defeat this epidemic and Congress party stands with every decision of the government to defeat it.
It is noteworthy that the coronavirus has become a threat to 198 countries around the world. About three billion people are locked in their homes due to the virus. Their lives are being affected by the lockdown. So far 21 thousand people have died and 468,905 are affected by this virus. The coronavirus outbreak that began in Wuhan city of China is taking frightening form all over the world. Spain tops the countries with the highest number of deaths in the last 24 hours.
