Best bets: Six things to do this weekend

Things to do this include week include the Barrel Aged Brew Fest at Black Hog Brewing, “Anastasia” at the Bushnell, the Dakota Austin Quintet plays Sunday as part of the Baby Grand Jazz Series at Hartford Public Library, Fire & Ice in Old Saybrook, the last weekend of Winterfest, and Tacos & Tequila at Foxwoods.

Barrel Aged Brew Fest

Black Hog Brewing, 115 Hurley Road, Building 9A, Oxford, hosts its annual Barrel Aged Brew Fest Jan. 18 at 1 p.m., with samplings of barrel-aged beers and ciders from Connecticut breweries and producers. The Caseus Cheese Truck and Wolfski’s Pierogies will be on site. Tickets are $45; designated driver tickets are $10. A bundle ticket ($65 in advance; $75 the day of) includes specialty barrel-aged Black Hog bottles. Proceeds will benefit Vie For The Kids.;

Tacos and tequila

Foxwoods hosts a Taco & Tequila fiesta on Jan. 19 at 4 p.m., with taco and tequila samples, live mariachi music and entertainment, including a mechanical bull. Additional food and drink is available for purchase. Tickets start at $15 for entry only; a “Reposado” ticket for $45 includes entry, two taco samples and three tequila samples and the “Anejo” ticket, for $80, includes four taco samples, six tequila samples and unlimited margaritas for an hour.

Fire & Ice

Saybrook Point Inn’s annual Fire & Ice outdoor winter festival returns Jan. 17 from 7 to 11 p.m. The adults-only (21+) event features winter fun on the terrace, music by Java Groove, ice carving demonstrations, a photo booth and unique specialty cocktails. Food stations offer raw bar, chowders and chili, seafood, smoked chicken, BBQ beef sliders and desserts like s’mores and creme brulee torched to order. Cost is $69.95 plus tax. Last chance

Winterfest Hartford’s 10th annual celebration of winter in Bushnell Park wraps up this weekend, running through Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Everything is free, including the skate rentals, except the carousel rides which are $2.

Baby Grand Jazz

The Dakota Austin Quintet, a group led by saxophonist Dakota Austin, a graduate of Artists Collective in Hartford and Western Connecticut State University and a student at Hartt, continues the Baby Grand Jazz series on Jan. 19 from 3 to 4 p.m. at in Hartford Public Library’s main branch at 500 Main St. The band also includes Matt DeLeon on trombone, Mike Carabello on piano, Conway Campbell Jr. on bass and Avery Collins on drums. The free series runs Sundays through April 26 except on Easter.
