Gay Byrne has passed away at the age of 85, following a long battle with cancer. Here we reflect on six of our favourite Gaybo moments from years gone by

Gay Byrne, the legendary RTÉ broadcaster, has passed away at the age of 85, following a long illness.

Affectionately nicknamed 'Gaybo', he has featured on our TV sets and radios for decades. The former Late Late Show host, who also presented the Late Late Toy Show, The Meaning of Life and Ireland's take on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, is survived by his wife Kathleen, their daughters Crona and Suzy, and their families.

In honour of Gaybo, we're looking back on some of his best moments from years gone by. There's no doubt he will be terribly missed.
