Mumbai, October 10: In Deglur Vidhan Sabha seat of Maharashtra, the electoral contest is between the Shiv Sena, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress, which has divided seats with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The sitting MLA from Deglur assembly seat is Shiv Sena's Subhash Piraji Sabne who has been renominated again. The Congress fielded Antapurkar Raosaheb alias Chandoba Jayanta against Sabne. According to the seat-sharing deal sealed by the Shiv Sena and the BJP, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party is contesting 124 of 288 seats of Maharashtra assembly, whereas the saffron party has 164 seats in its quota. The Congress and the NCP are fighting on 125 seats each. The BJP, in 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, emerged as single largest party winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena bagged 63 seats, whereas the Congress won 42. The NCP could win 41 seats. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and the PWP won three seats each. Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM bagged two seats. Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven Independents also won in the elections. The Election Commission announced the schedule of Maharashtra assembly elections on September 21. As per the schedule, polling will be held on October 21, while the counting of votes will take place on October 24.
