Kia Seltos 1.4-litre turbocharged 0-100 km/h acceleration on video
Kia Seltos has become a hot product in the Indian market and even before the official price announcement of the SUV, close to 30,000 units of the vehicle has been booked. The Seltos will be launched on 22nd August but before that, all the information about the car is now known. The Kia Seltos will come powered by three engine options and the most powerful variant of the car will get the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Also, Kia will offer a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as an option with this engine option. How fast is this engine? Well, here is a video that captures the vehicle acceleration.
The video that was sent to us by one of our readers shows the instrument cluster of the vehicle. The video shows the acceleration of the Seltos. In the video, the Seltos takes about 11 seconds to reach 100 km/h mark from standstill. Kia officially claims that the car can do the 0-100 km/h run in just 9.7 seconds under test conditions. The video shows the Dual-Clutch transmission is changing the gears quickly just as a DCT automatic should do. The tachometer of the Seltos also shows that the engine is holding the revs till 6,000 rpm before upshifting. Under the regular accelerator input, the upshifts happen a much lower rpm point. Nonetheless, the Kia Seltos does a pretty good job.
The 1.4-litre turbocharged unit of the Seltos GT Line produces a maximum power of 138 Bhp and peak torque of 242 Nm. This gets 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as an option. Kia also offers a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that develops a maximum power of 113 Bhp and peak torque of 144 Nm. It gets a 6-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT) as an optional automatic transmission. The diesel variants of the Seltos get powered by the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine option that produces a maximum power of 113 Bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. It comes mated to an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This is the first time that a car model will be offering three completely different types of automatic transmission in India. All the three engine options will get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The most efficient Kia variant will be the diesel manual, which returns a maximum of 20.8 km/l, while the diesel-automatic will return a maximum of 17.8 km/l. The naturally aspirated petrol automatic returns a maximum of 16.3 km/l while the automatic version returns a maximum of 16.4 km/l according to the official documents. The turbocharged petrol automatic returns a maximum of 16.2 km/l while the manual version returns a maximum of 16.1 km/l.
The Kia Seltos will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and Renault Captur in the Indian market. Even the top-end variants will take on the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500.
