BJP-Modi created brand model of women empowerment: Rajni Sethi
Feb 09, 2019
JAMMU: State President of BJP Mahila Morcha, Rajni Sethi today said that what PM Narendra Modi has done for women empowerment, entrepreneurship in five years, has created a new BJP-Modi brand model of women empowerment.
This was stated by Rajni Sethi while addressing a press conference of State Mahila Morcha at Party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Mahila Morcha President was also accompanied by Morcha National Executive Members Suresh Jamwal, Sheela Koul, and State Media Secretary Prerna Nanda.
Rajni Sethi, while addressing media persons, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always considered "Women first, Prosperity for all". Modi drew allegory of women power with the incarnation of Shakti- the Goddess of power.
PM Modi always said that women empowerment is vital to India's development. This statement from a charismatic leader like Modi meant a lot for women's participation in the economic and political sphere of India. If it is to be analyzed what has been done for women's economic empowerment by the Modi government in the past five years, it should be viewed from two different perspectives.
At one level Narendra Modi's Cabinet has six women ministers, including two in the powerful Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). Nirmala Sitharaman, who is Union Defence Minister, and Sushma Swaraj - the External Affairs Minister. Other Cabinet ministers are Najma Heptullah, Maneka Gandhi, Harsimrat Kaur, and Smriti Irani. The presence of women at the top level of decision making certainly speaks a lot about women's empowerment.
On the other hand, if we analyze how Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has delivered in past months of its launch, PMUY was launched in May 2016.
Rajni Sethi stressed that Modi said women's empowerment is vital to India's development and talked about flagship MUDRA Yojana, saying women entrepreneurs have benefited the most from the scheme.
One of the clearer paths for economic empowerment of women is through education and protection of girl child. With this aim in mind, the government launched, "The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme on January 22, 2015. The scheme aimed to address the issue of declining child sex ratio (CSR) and is a national initiative jointly run by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Rajni Sethi further added that it is very shameful that Mahila Congress Chief said that Congress government will scrap Triple Talaq Law if Congress government comes to power in 2019. She said that under the leadership of Modi, "Sab ka Saath Sab Vikas" is truly possible and it needs to be augmented by the efforts of all. BJP is genuinely concerned about the welfare of Muslim women, feelings of benevolence and sympathy should be reflected in attitude towards the entire community and this is envisioned and achieved by BJP in letter and spirit, she stressed.
