Actor Rajinikanth in his tweet questioned why a film that cleared by censor board had to again go through the process of removal of certain scenes which AIADMK objected to.

On Thursday, an theatre owners' body announced that the edited version would be screened from Friday afternoon, while sources in the 'Sarkar' crew said a "compromise" has been reached.
Earlier in the day, posters of the film were damaged across theatres in the state by angry AIADMK cadre.
