Two-day skill development programme on ‘Embedded systems and IoT applications’ held at GSSSIETW
Mysuru, November 7:- The Department of Telecommunication Engineering, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru, organised a two-day skill development programme on “Embedded systems and IoT applications” under FEST Forum of Telecommunication Engineering students for 5th-semester students,
The programme was inaugurated by Dr M Shivakumar, principal.
Dr Parameshachari B D, professor and head, Department of TCE; programme coordinator Manjula G, associate professor Department of TCE and the SDP trainers Swetha K and Nayana C G, assistant professors, Department of TCE, all the staff members and students of 5th semester TCE were present.
The students were introduced to different microcontrollers and comparison. There were extensive hands-on sessions using MSP430 and Tiva C Series launch pads using Code Composer Studio and Energia software with embedded C coding. The basics of Code Composer Studio and Energia software was explained. The students were briefed about the configuration of GPIO pins and how to programme to control LED, switches and so on. The workshop continued with IoT concepts and demonstrated various sensors, how to control and monitor them through the cloud.
The two-day workshop concluded with a questionnaire, followed by feedback from the students. The skill development programme helps the students to carry out their mini projects, final year projects and exposure to the new technologies and innovative ideas. (MR)
