A group of teenagers who took part in courses run by a charity which aims to preserve traditional crafts have created a unique tribute to fallen of the First World War.

The 27 youngsters, who come from schools across London and attended workshops run by the Creative Dimension Trust, have produced a 27-piece tryptic featuring carvings of doves and poppies.

Their creation, a three-sectioned artwork measuring 6ft 6in (2m) by 3ft 3in (1m), is going on show to mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice.

Charity founder Penny Bendall said the tryptic will be unveiled during an event at Bonhams auction house in London on Wednesday before going on display at nearby Somerset House over the weekend.

She said the tryptic features nine stone carvings of doves in flight, nine lime wood carvings of poppies, and nine Verre Eglomise hearts.
