Regional retreat of prison staff held at Chanchalguda

Chanchalguda: The first session of Regional Retreat 2018 was organized at State Institute of Correctional Administration, Chanchalguda, Hyderabad. As many as 149 Prison personnel from warden to jailor from Hyderabad, Yadadri, Nagerkurnool, Varnaparthi, Nalgonda, Mahaboobnagar and Rangareddy districts attended.

  • The retreat discussed security measures, welfare activities for the staff and inmates, as well as suggestions for improving the prestigious ‘Mahaparivartan programme’ 
A Narsasimha, Inspector General of Prisons, inaugurated the session. The topics discussed were: security measures of the prison administration, welfare activities for staff as well as prisoners, and suggestions for the improvement of prestigious Mahaparivarthan programme. 
The participants expressed their views and suggestions without any restrictions. Later, the recommendations were forwarded to the State Level Retreat 2018. Narsasimha and Saidaiah, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Hyderabad Range, felt that the proceedings of the meeting would serve the purpose for reviewing the progress of Department and to identify the issues causing problem in development. 
They also expressed satisfaction about the results of recently introduced Mahaparivarthan programme to the inmates of Telangana State Prisons. They held that the programme taken up by the Telangana Prisons Department was recognised at National Level. 
 
During previous retreats, several recommendations of the staff were taken into consideration and many a suggestion was adopted. By conducting such retreats, the department has been moving forward as compared to other departments. 
All should participate actively and contribute something for the department, they asserted. K Arjuna Rao, Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison, Hyderabad, presided over the programme and Vishwanatham, Professor (Retd) attended the programme as guest faculty and briefed the participants on the subject of ‘happiness.’ Dr D Srinivas, the Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison, Hyderabad, A Venkatesham, the jailor, were amongst others who were present.
