JAMMU, Sept 14: Indian cricketer of yesteryears Vinod Kambli today suggested to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) to find real talent in the villages and remote belts of the region.
“Whatever I have heard about J&K is that there is no dearth of talent but I feel that the youngsters playing cricket in fields or gully cricket, must be given chance at the right platform”, Kambli said while interacting with media persons here.
The cricketer is here in the town to act as a selector in Cricket Premier League (CPL)-a chain launched to select talented players across the country.
“I will be monitoring the budding cricketers on the ground on September 16 and I am sure that whatever I have heard about J&K will be proved by the cricketers attending trials”, said the former cricketer.
He however, said that he himself made a comeback to Indian team nine times on the basis of his performance in domestic cricket especially in the Ranji Trophy.
“The cricket association in J&K (JKCA) must hold camps, take care of the needs of players, facilities and infrastructure they require, which can groom a cricketer in a better way”, he added.
Kambli also advised the JKCA to find the real hidden talent in villages, which can further be nurtured and groomed by the experts and professional cricketers.
He also appreciated many cricketers from the State who represented Indian, IPL and ICL platforms.
