Former HP health minister demands JPC probe in Rafale deal
While addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr Thakur said that during the UPA regime, government decided to procure Rafale air fighter jet with the condition of transferring the technology to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited however the contract was given to favor a private defense company which was registered only 15 days before the agreement. He alleged that the cost of Rafale Jets was escalated by three times after PM Modi's visit to France in April 2015.
"NDA ministers and senior leaders of BJP including former FM Yashwant Sinha and former Union minister of communications and information technology Arun Shorie have raised this issue exposing direct involvement of PM in this scam." said Thakur . He further strengthened his demand of JPC probe by adding that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had once accepted on the floor of parliament that Defence Procurement Council's nod to new Rafale deal was given in may 2015 however PM Modi announced this deal in the month of April.
The Congress leaders said that the charge leveled by Mr. Thakur has exposed the NDA led central government completely and Prime Minister should tender resignation on moral grounds. Thakur also hinted towards involvement of PM himself in the alleged rafale deal 'scam' as it is the gross violation of defence procurement producer. While recalling the 'Bofors scam' during the UPA rule he said that Bofors artillery guns proved a major factor to defeat the enemy in Kargil war during Vajpayee's time. Mr. Thakur while pointing out the recent revelations by the fugitive Vijay Mallya of his meeting with the Union finance minister Mr Jaitley before leaving country said that it only exposed that the Modi government is hand-in-glove with fugitive corporates like Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.
Speaking on the issue of exuberant prices of fuel, Thakur said that Bharat Bandh on Sept 10 by 21 national parties was a huge success but HP CM Jai Ram Thakur is still reluctant to give relief to the people. He concluded by exhorting the BJP led centre government to reduce VAT on diesel and petrol.
