Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane feels that his side did not play their best football against Polokwane City on Tuesday but was happy to get the three points.

Mosimane admitted that his team had to be careful in their approach as Rise and Shine stunned them in the previous campaign, beating them twice.

Ricardo Nascimento put the Brazilians ahead in the opening stages of the game with new acquisition Lebohang Maboe also netting with the match ending 2-0 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Pretoria club are now second on the Absa Premiership table with four points after two games having played a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in the opening match.

"We were coming and going. We didn't have a free flow as usual but sometimes it's okay to have the three points and not have the free flow. Hopefully on Saturday we can have a free flow match. What's important is to win the match," Mosimane told SuperSport.

"We did well. The three-man midfield helped us. Mshishi (Themba Zwane), Ace (Oupa Manyisa) and Tiyani Mabunda. Not so much of a great game but we must also give credit to the guys Polokwane, they were threatening especially in the last ten minutes of the first half. We're happy to get three points.

"Game management was important, these kinds of games when you're 2-0 up you don't have to look like you want to play you just wait for your chance. Last year here we got zero points, against Chiefs last season we lost our home game so it's progress."
