The football fraternity has been left stunned after former Aston Villa and Bolton defender Jlloyd Samuel was killed in a car crash on Tuesday. The Trinidad and Tobago international was 37 years old when he breathed his last.

Tributes are now pouring in from all corners as football mourns the demise of one of its own. Jlloyd Samuel was killed after his Range Rover collided with a truck in High Legh, north-west of England.

The 37-year-old died on the spot while the truck driver sustained severe injuries. Jlloyd Samuel was reportedly returning home after dropping his kids to school when the tragedy took place.

His Range Rover burst into flames after the accident. Samuel is well remembered for his decade-long sting at Villa Park. The versatile player was often deployed in defense or midfield. He parted ways with Aston Villa in 2007 and joined Bolton.

He also had short loan spells at Gillingham and Cardiff and ended his playing career in Iran. He was player-manager of Egerton for the 2017-18 season.
