The Paper Boy 2018-05-16 11:28:11

listen up, folks!

I never thought that I will say this, but this Monday (May 14th) was one of the best days of this week. And we didn't even need 'Game of Thrones' to help us sail through the day, because ICSE and all the students appearing for that exam decided to take the lead.

A quick GK tip: ICSE stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination. It is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certification Examination. Also FYI, this is considered to be one of the toughest boards in India.

Now let's come back to the story, yesterday was one of the most memorable days for all the class Xth students of the ICSE board because the results were announced.

However, I think it is for the first time that the whole country was dancing and rejoicing after the results were announced. The kids and their family members were happy because they passed the exam with flying colors. The rest of us were dancing because, THANK GOD, we were not a part of this crazy competition.

During our time, when scoring 90% or 95% was an extraordinary deal, most kids today scored an average of 98% to 99%. This brings us to Swayam Das, the All India ICSE topper who scored 99.4%. Trust me guys, if I roll my eyes any harder they will pop out. How did he prepare for the exams? What secret ingredient did he eat to boost his brain power? Well, whatever it was, let's first congratulate Swayam for setting a new record for other students to beat.

15-year-old Swayam is from Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai and a student of St Mary's ICSE School. He reportedly scored 100 in Mathematics, History-Civics-Geography and Computer Applications, 98 in English, 95 in Hindi and 99 in Science.

Das told The Times Of India, “I always thought of grabbing a spot in the select band of merit holders, but never thought of topping the country. I solved a lot of papers and that experience brought me the success.” Swayam who aims to become a researcher, further said, “I owe it to my parents and teachers who have been my support system all through.”

While people are praising Swayam's exceptional scores, no one seems to be bothered about Dettol that has always made us proud by killing 99.9 % germs.

That's unfair guys, 99.9% is not an easy score to maintain. We're with you Dettol and we know that there will be a day when you will manage to kill those 0.1% germs too.
