NCP Leader Offers Advice to Chief Minister on Special Status
Patna: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary Tariq Anwar, at a press conference in Patna on Monday, demanded from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to either press for his demand of special category status for Bihar from the Narendra Modi government at the Center or walk out of the NDA.
Anwar tried to coax the Chief Minister into showing some spine against the Prime Minister like Chandra Babu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh.
"Nitish Kumar should borrow a leaf from Chandra Babu Naidu and show some moral strength like him. If he is truly committed to seek special status for Bihar, he should lay it down before the Prime Minister and not back off," the MP said.
Anwar, who is not a friend of the NDA and wishes to see it break down, also advised Kumar of setting a deadline for getting special category status for Bihar and if this demand was not fulfilled, he said, all legislators and MPs from the state should resign en masse.
The NCP leader also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of unleashing communal unrest in the nation ahead of next year's Parliamentary elections to sow seeds of discord for political advantage.
"This is what the Sangh Parivar does right before each election and people should be aware of their evil design that aims to influence voters through extreme polarization," Anwar said.
