Swami Vivekananda's birthday celebration in Tripura
Agartala: The poll bound state of Tripura celebrated Swami Vivekananda's 156th birth anniversary on Friday. This day which is also celebrated as 'Yuba Diwas', served as a platform for the political parties of the state to gain political mileage ahead of the assembly polls.
While BJP workers celebrated his birth anniversary throughout the state, CM Manik Sarkar called for changing the policy of the nation in a programme.
In a programme organised at Vivek Udyuan, CM Sarkar along with other dignitaries paid floral tribute to Vivekananda. Sarkar said, "Our maximum population in the country is now in poverty. He said, the government should work for the uplifment of those poor sections of population."
BJP spokesperson Mrinal Kanti Deb said, "We think, Vivekananda is only icon for the youths of India. We want to spread his thoughts and ideas among the youths of the nation, for this reason we are celebrating his birthday."
He further added, "In Tripura, the leftist always placed Che Guevara as a youth icon. But Che had no contribution in our country. So we want to bring back our youths from the Che, Lenin, Stalin circle and that’s why we are focusing Vivekananda."
