The suspended deputy collector Devendra Katke of Aurangabad has filed a complaint against the Divisional Commissioner Purushottam Bhapkar of Aurangabad. Mr Katke on Wednesday said his suspension action was an act of revenge and also accused that Mr Bhapkar demanded Rs one crore from him (Katke) as bribe before suspending him.

Two deputy collectors, Mr Katke and Vishwambhar Gawande were suspended in misappropriation in a land deal case on December 19 last year. The action was taken after the report from inquiry committee headed by Pandurang Kulkarni.

Mr Bhapkar also issued show cause notices to additional district collector P L Sormare and then deputy collector Ravindra Rajput and retired additional collector Kisan Lawande. The issue of suspension rocked the state assembly in winter session in Nagpur last month.

Mr Katke has forwarded the copies of complaint to the state chief minister Devendra Fadanvis, Revenue Minister, district guardian minister and principal secretary.

In his complaint Mr Katke said that Dr Bhapkar misued his position and initiated an enquiry against him and took action on false grounds. Mr Bhapkar also sought Rs 1 crore as bribe from him.He did not give enough time to furnish his reply and the suspension was illegal and a through probe should be conducted into the matter, he said.

District Collector Naval Kishore Ram has given a clean chit to Mr Katke in a land case and opined that he should be reinstated, Mr Katke said.

Police said they will seek legal opinion from experts then decide the future course of action. UNI VKB NV SM SDR AE1421
