SIT to look into 186 anti-Sikh riot cases which took place in 1984.
The massacre took place followed by the assesination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. There were 241 cases lodged into the matter from which 186 cases were closed without investigation.
A bench of judges headed by Dipak Misra asked the Central government to suggest names for appointment in the proposed Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The anti Sikh riot which took place after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi took 2,733 lives. Â
