Chandimal saves Sri Lanka from follow-on
A stubborn knock of 147 not out by Skipper Dinesh Chandimal helped Sri Lanka to avoid follow-on in the 3rd and final Test against India at Delhi today (04).
At stumps on day 3, Sri Lanka was on 356 for 9. Sri Lanka is now trail by 180 runs with one wicket in hand.
Chandimal faced 341 balls hitting 18 fours and one six.
It was Chandimal's 10th Test ton.
He added 181 runs for the 4th wicket with Angelo Mathews who made 111.
It was Mathews' 8th Test century.
Test debutant Roshen Silva failed to disturb the scorers and Niroshan Dickwella also out for a naught.
Ravichandran Ashwin bagged 3 wickets while Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja captured 2 wickets each.
Batting first, India totalled 536 for 7.
