All-New Triumph Street Triple Range Unveiled
British iconic motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled its brand new 2017 range of its Triumph Street Triple range.
The company has showcased the new 2017 range of the bike in its homeland, in the UK. The motorcycle now comes in three variants, namely the R, S and the RS trim.
The 2017 Triumph Speed Triple is based on the same chassis as the outgoing motorcycle, however, it gets a revised swing-arm and different mounting points. The front features the characteristic headlamps, which get an LED setup.
The motorcycle sees a lot of edgier styling elements throughout its surfaces. It gets contemporary bits, such as a 5-inch TFT display straight in front of the rider, acting as the speedometer console. It gets a 5-way joystick controller to play around with the various settings that the bike has on offer.
The 2017 Triumph Speed Triple now gets a new 765cc engine, which has evolved from the 675cc unit in its sibling, the Triumph Daytona 675. The engine has received some 80 new parts to jump up the ladder and gain some 85cc of more capacity.
Triumph has brought forward only 10 per cent of the earlier engine design on the new range, which now gets new crank, new aluminium barrels, a new cam, etc. The 2017 Speed Triple’s engine also sheds some weight to weigh around 1.5 kilograms lesser than the previous model.
The 765cc engine is tuned to produce a different output on all three variants of the bike. It churns out 111 BHP in the Speed Triple S, 116 BHP in the R variant and an even higher 121 BHP in the Speed Triple RS variant, which is a completely different machine and has been loaded with a lot of performance parts.
The Triumph Speed Triple RS gets Showa shocks at the front and exclusive Ohlins STX40 mono-shocks at the rear of the motorcycle. The brakes are also Brembo procured 310mm at the front and 220mm discs at the rear, with switchable ABS for safety.
The 2017 Triumph Speed Triple is expected to be introduced in the Indian market sometime later this year.
