Develop sporting culture, medical students told

Annual sports meet ‘Shourya 2017’ was held in the city on Wednesday at JSS Ayurveda Medical College grounds.

The sports meet was inaugurated by Mayor M J Ravikumar by igniting the sports flame and releasing the balloons symbolically.

Addressing the gathering, he expressed his happiness over involvement of medical students in sports. He stressed upon physical fitness of future doctors who are going to look after health of the public. He emphasised upon the employment opportunities in sports. He requested all the students to co-operate with Mysuru City Corporation to retain Mysuru as 1st among the clean city for the third time, by downloading the Swaccha Bharath App.

In his presidential address, Dr K Lakshmeesh Upadhya, Principal, JSS Ayurveda Medical College, advised the students to maintain their physical and mental fitness by engaging themselves in sports activities. He told that only participation during the sports meet is not sufficient, it is necessary to keep at least one hour daily for sports, which definitely helps them to be active in their  regular activities.

Dr Shivaprasad Huded, Medical Superintendent, JSS Ayurveda Hospital, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Sports Secretary, Vikas Nandy, Asst. Administrative Officer, Faculty members and students were present.
