Talking to media in the sideline of the first day of the Budget Session of the 13th Nagaland Assembly today, Zeliang said the development came just days after installation of Neiphiu Rio-led People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government, which had Naga Peoples Front (NPF) party fuming that it smacked of "political vendetta." Speaking on the summons issued on him by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to appear at NIA office in Lodhi Road in New Delhi today Zeliang clarified that he received the summons at a short notice only yesterday.
However, owing to the Assembly Session from today to March 26 in which he is required to attend being the Leader of the Opposition, Zeliang said he would not be able to appear in person on that date. The NIA gave him a new date on March 17.
It may be mentioned here that NIA has summoned former Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang for questioning in connection with a terror-funding case. NIA is probing a case of how Government funds in Nagaland were siphoned off by banned militant outfit Khaplang faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN). UNI AS RN
