Chennai: Governor Banwarilal Purohit has nominated Justice C V Ramulu, former judge, Andhra Pradesh High Court as member of the Search Committee of Annamalai University for recommending a panel of three names to the Chancellor for appointment of next Vice-Chancellor of the university. The incumbent Vice-Chancellor is due to demit office on 27 May, 2018.
As Chancellor’s nominee, Justice Ramulu will function as the Convener of the Search Committee.
The other members of the committee are C Thangamuthu, former Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan University who is the Syndicate nominee and S P Elangovan, formerly chairman and managing director, Tamilnadu Transport Development Finance Corporation Ltd, who is the Government nominee to the committee, a press release said.
The functions of the committee include maximizing the pool of candidates by a notification of the vacancy in newspapers and university website and by inviting nominations from distinguished academicians. After careful study of the applications received in the prescribed format, the committee will shortlist not more than 10 candidates with all essential eligibility criteria for an interaction with the committee.
Thereafter the panel will prepare a list of three candidates with a brief write-up of their suitability and submit it to the Chancellor.
