Sri Lanka’s two- day warm-up match against the Board President’s XI ended in a draw as Sanju Samson played a gritty knock of 128 off 143 deliveries as Sri Lanka used 14 bowlers in the game. Sri Lanka made full use of the warm-up game as they gave a chance to bowl to every player except their keeper Niroshan Dickewella. Tanmay Agarwal and Jiwanjot Singh opened the innings for the BP XI. Tanmay fell soon as he was trapped in front of the stumps by a surprise new ball bowler Thirimanne. Thirimanne who was the highest wicket-taker with two wickets in the match also picked up the wicket of AA Bhandari who scored three runs. Sanju Samson and RR Prem then a shared a 71 runs partnership before Prem lost his wicket to De Silva on 39 runs. Sanju Samson was the star of BP XI’s batting. Samson hit 19 boundaries and one six in his innings which lasted almost four hours. Samson was the last wicket to fall for the BP XI as BP Sandeep, and Jalaj Saxena saw through the day for their team.

For Sri Lanka, Dilruwan Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, and Sadeera Samarawickrama picked up a wicket each. Sri Lanka scored 411/9d in their innings. Sri Lanka finished day one of their two-day warm-up match at 411/9d in Kolkata. BP XI won the toss and chose to field first. The Sri Lanka Batsmen found some rhythm on their tour opener as four of their top six batsmen scored half-centuries with Samarawickrama top scoring with 74 runs while opening the batting.
The first Test begins from 16th November at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
