Internet has been abuzz with rumors about the Xiaomi Mi 6 launching early next month. The upcoming Xiaomi flagship is expected to come Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. Just yesterday we came across a report which assured that the Mi 6 with the Snapdragon 835 chipset has entered mass production and is coming in two variants – one with an LCD display, and the other with a curved OLED display. Now, a new report suggests that there will be two variants of the Mi 6 in terms of RAM and display as well. It also suggests a dual camera set up for the Mi 6.
According to reports, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will launch in two RAM variants while earlier reports had predicted three variants based on type of processor. The two variants are said to be dubbed as the Xiaomi Mi 6 and the Xiaomi Mi 6 Pro. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to feature a flat display, while the Xiaomi Mi 6 Pro is expected to feature a curved display similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge. This would not be the first time Xiaomi has copied Samsung in terms of design, as the Mi Note 2 also sports a dual-edge curved design like the Galaxy S7 edge. In addition to this, the Mi 6 with flat screen display is said to come with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage and the Mi 6 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The report also suggests a rear dual-camera setup for the Mi 6, but its details are scarce as of now. Previously, it was rumored that the Mi 6 would sport a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities and dual-tone LED flash. Up front, the smartphone was said to house a 4-megapixel selfie camera.
Recalling yesterday’s report which is similar to the aforementioned information, it said that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will launch in two variants. One of the variants would feature an LCD display and the other, a curved OLED display. Pricings for both the variants were also predicted. The Xiaomi Mi 6 with LCD display is said to be priced at RMB 1,999 (Rs 19,700 approximately) and the OLED version could be priced at RMB 2,499 (Rs 24,700 approximately). For quite some time, it had been rumored that the Xiaomi Mi 6 would launch in three variants with three different chipsets. They were dubbed as the Mi 6S, Mi 6E and the Mi 6P. The Xiaomi Mi 6S is said to come with the Snapdragon 835 chipset, the Mi 6E either with a MediaTek Helio chipset or Samsung’s Exynos chipset and the Mi 6P is speculated to be powered by the company’s own Pinecone chipset. There is still no confirmation however, on which processor would make it to the final cut or all three versions will be unveiled.
Accumulating previous rumors and leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to feature a 2.5D curved display. On the software front, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to run on Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under MIUI OS. For power, the smartphone could use a 3,000mAh battery, and could feature USB Type-C support for connectivity. Other than that, the smartphone is said to come with a physical Home button which could double as a fingerprint scanner, and a dual-tone design with metal back. The colors options could be Black, White, and Blue.
